Pai Gow poker is a combination of the ancient Chinese domino game of Pai Gow and the modern American version of poker.

Unlike most card games, Pai Gow uses a 53-card deck since the game is played with a joker added to the standard 52 card pack.

Also different from many of the poker games, in Pai Gow the player is only playing against the dealer, similar to card games like blackjack and baccarat.

The game of Pai Gow has very slow play in contrast to many other casino table games. The main objective is to divide the seven cards you receive into two separate hands and have both hands be of higher value than the dealer's.

To lose your wager the dealer must have both hands of higher value than yours. Likewise, though, you must have both hands higher than the dealer's to win so the odds of reaching a tie are very high in Pai Gow.
